| Ashbridges Skatepark
The Ashbridge's Bay skatepark is on the northwest corner of Lakeshore and Coxwell and sits across the street from the bustling Ashbridges Park. After a good session on a hot summer day I wouldn't get my hopes up on cooling down across the street in the toxic waves rolling in off Lake Ontario, because it's likely you'll come out with an extra extremity or missing one. However, Ashbridge's Bay Park is a great place for ma and pa to spend the day while little Billy heads across the street to shred over 20,000 square feet of the buttery smooth street inspired plaza. This skatepark boasts anything from 3, 5, 8 and 11 stair sets with hubbas and handrails to manual pads and ledges of all shapes, sizes and lengths. One of the key features worth specifically mentioning would be the slightly manipulated recreation of the circular pad at Commerce Court. A couple of the features include things that you've never seen or skated before. One being a floating...manual...dish...thingy...for lack of a better description and the other being a floating thin quarter pipe that you have to ollie into due to being cocked back and raised as though a magnitude 8 earthquake struck 10 square feet specifically where this thing stands. Otherwise there are NO transitions. There are rumours floating around that phase 2 is supposed to start next year consisting of a bowl with phase 3 the year after that consists of a snake run. But like almost any skatepark that has had the promise of any extra phases - we'll believe it when we see it. This write up still can't do this place justice so watch the video, then go skate it. You won't be disappointed.
